Vishwakarma Awards 2024 was announced by Maker Bhavan Foundation (MBF), a US-based public charity. The vision of this award is modernizing STEM education in Indian Science and Engineering colleges.
This was announced on August 13. Its an engineering innovation award. The application form is open and institute can apply by August 20. This year IIT Hyderabad is the partner in this endeavor to enhance the support provided to participants.
Vishwakarma award is a nationalwide thematic challenge which is focused on incentivize talented students innovators and thinkers to develop scalable technological solution that make real world problem and can give boost to India’s economy.

Certification: All finalist teams will get Certificates and an additional 10,000/- from the Foundation. They may also request for Letters of Recommendation (LOR) from mentors and selection committee members.
Residential Program at IIT Hyderabad:18 finalist teams will spend a week at IIT Hyderabad, receiving intensive entrepreneurial training
Applications are now open for the Vishwakarma Awards 2024. Student teams from science and engineering colleges across India can enter the challenge.
Shortlisted teams will receive financial support to build their prototypes, mentorship from domain experts, and a platform to showcase their solutions.
Awards will be given for Best Product Design and Most Innovative Solution in each theme.

Who can participate?
- A team of a maximum of four student members.
- Team members need to be Undergraduate/ Postgraduate/ PhD students from any govt. recognized Indian engineering college or university.
- We will group UG and PG students separately. Prior research work by a student team will not be recognized. Teams will be judged on the specific prototyping work they did during the competition.
- The solution must have a significant hardware component and has to be demonstrated onsite at the finals.
Assessment Method
- Relevance: Is the invention addressing a real problem?
- Effectiveness: Does the prototype work? Is it Cost-Effective?
- Clarity:Is the scientific and logic chain about the product, idea or innovation robust? What can be the pitfalls in the chain of reasoning?
- Uniqueness: How do the benefits compare to the solutions available in the market?
- Patentability: Are the solution and prototype patentable? (IP shall belong to team members)
- Commercial Viability: How does the cost compare to other things in the market?.
- Fact Check: What has been done in the past to address what you are addressing?
- Ease of use: Is the solution practical and easy to deploy? How will it be used by the user?
