UPSC SO ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
- No specific educational qualification is prescribed for taking this type of UPSC Exams. Only serving Central Government Employees working as Assistant in the Assistant Grade of the Central Secretariat Service.
AGE CRITERIA:
- No specific age limit is prescribed for appearing in to apply for SO/Steno (Gd B/Gd-I) Limited Department.
The UPSC SO/STENO 2024 selection process comprises three stages:
- Preliminary Exam,
- Main Exam, and
- Skill Test.
The Preliminary Exam is a Computer-Based Test (CBT) that serves as the first stage of the selection process.
- PRELIMINARY EXAM:
The exam consists of two papers:
- General Studies- I
- General Studies- II / CSAT
UPSC SO EXAM PATTERN:
- Both papers are multiple-choice questions worth a total of 400 marks.
- The duration of the exam is 2 hours each,
- The medium of the exam is English and Hindi.
(Note: The Preliminary Exam serves as a screening test, and only candidates who qualify for this stage are eligible to appear for the Main Exam.)
- MAINS EXAM PATTERN:
The Main Exam is the second stage of the selection process and is a descriptive test.
- The exam tests candidates’ knowledge of the Constitution of India and Machinery of Government.
- The duration of the exam is 2 hours,
- The medium of the exam is English and Hindi.
- The Main Exam is worth 200 marks and serves as a crucial stage in the selection process.
FINAL STAGE
- The Skill Test is the final stage of the selection process.
- The Test Conducted to assess the shorthand and typing skill of the candidates
- The Skill Test is qualifying in nature, and the final merit list is released separately for Grade C and Grade D
- The language of the CBT is bilingual, and the exam pattern consists of 200 questions to be attempted in 2 hours.
- Candidates who pass the Skill Test are eligible for the final selection process.

- The Information Bulletin and Application Form costing Rs.100/- can be taken from the general post office of the city against Cash payment.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
- A valid Mobile Number (to be verified through an OTP)

- Aadhaar Number/ PAN/ Voter ID/ Driver License/ Passport/ Employer ID (Govt./ PSU/ Private)
- Class 10th and 12th Mark sheets
- Mark sheets of higher qualifications (if any)
- Scanned image of candidate’s color passport-size photograph
- Scanned image of the candidate’s signature

- If you are not registered at this portal firstly register yourself.
- For registration enter your personal details like your name, father name , mother name, date of birth etc. and generate your password.
- After that login yourself by using Phone number, Date of birth and Password.
- Now, Click on Apply link.
- Click on ORA for Various Recruitment Posts.
- Find Section Officer/ Stenographer and click on ‘Apply Now’ against this.
- After reading instructions, take a print out and click on Next and again read important Note and click on Next
- Read Terms and Conditions and check the declaration box and click on Proceed
- Registration ID and Password are required to apply
