The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) Provincial Civil Services (PCS) Preliminary Exam 2024 conducted on Sunday, December 22. The exam was conducted peacefully under the tight security. Only 42 percent registered candidates appeared.

The registration for this exam was higher as 5,76,154 candidates registered for this exam, only 2,41,212 appeared for the exam. What could be the reason perhaps the protests, logistical challenges, and tight schedules might have contributed to the low appearance. The authority had assured the candidates of conducting it in single day inspite of multiple day as the the protests, sparked on holding the exam in multiple shift.

UPPSC Secretary Ashok Kumar informed that the exams were held smoothly across 1,331 centres. A double-layer security system was implemented to ensure fairness, involving police and agency oversight. Key measures included:
Live monitoring of all centres from a central control room.
Biometric Verification: Iris scans and other biometric screenings to identify candidates and prevent proxy appearances.
Immediate Alerts: The control room flagged suspicious activities in real time.
Though after the strict vigil only one cheating incident was reported. A candidate at Jawaharlal Nehru PG College, Etawah, was caught using earphones. The police promptly booked the individual.
The exam is conducted in two stage first is preliminary exam and those who clear it go for main exam. The date of Main exam would be informed in due course.
Main exam- consists of eight papers, including General Hindi, General English, General Studies, and optional subjects
