What is UGC NET?
UGC NET (University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test) is conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency) to check if a candidate is eligible for:
- Assistant Professor in Indian universities and colleges
- Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) – which means you get a stipend to do research (like PhD)

Basic Structure of Exam
The UGC NET exam has two papers:

- Paper 1 – General Paper (common for all candidates)
- Paper 2 – Subject-specific (based on the subject you choose)
Note – Both papers are held on the same day, in a single session of 3 hours (180 minutes).
No break between Paper 1 and Paper 2.

- Type – Objective-type (Multiple Choice Questions – MCQs)

UGC NET JRF 2025 June Exam Pattern: Marking Scheme
- There shall be 2 marks for each correct answer.
- No Negative Marking for Wrong Answer.
- No Any Marks for Unanswered / un-attempted/ marked for review.
- If the question is found to be incorrect and the Question is dropped, then two marks (+2) will be awarded to only those candidates who have attempted the question.
Total Time for Exam
- Total Duration = 3 hours (180 minutes)
- This time is for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 together.
- You can manage your time the way you want – there is no separate timing for each paper.
