As the word goes by UGC chief Mamidala the UGC is planning to reduce the time for completing the three degree to be completed in two and half year and four year degree in three years.

Though it leaves this on the students if they are capable of doing so they will be given the chance to do this practice of completing the three year degree in 2 and half year and four year degree in three year time.
Mamidala said despite opting for the a slow paced degree,if a student wants he or she can still take a break from the course and come back later and complete it. The choices of multiple entry and exit points are there.

A committee headed by IIT Madras director V Kamakoti submitted its recommendation on accelerated and slow paced degrees to the UGC and it approved them on Wednesday Mamidala says that detailed guideline in this direction would be released soon.
Speaking on the four year degree program he said it gives lot of advantages to the students. In the fourth year they can do research projects, apply for patents and publish papers. He is hopeful that four year degree programme would be implemented across the country. West Bengal and kerala have implemented this.
Reducing the time four year course will it be implemented in Engineering and Medical courses? The question remains here which was not cleared by him.
