There is a slight change in the positioning of some institutes. Though there is no change in the top 4 positions. The fifth position this year is held by the Jawaharlal Institute of Post-Graduate Medical Education & Research pushing BHU from its position. Three Private medical institutions maintained their position in the top 10 medical colleges in India. Now it’s the medical education regulator rule that only institutions that have had a hospital functioning for at least three years will now be allowed to start MBBS courses and open medical colleges.
In the past government found that nearly 40 of around 90 medical colleges which got permission to operate since 2011 were denied renewals later as it was found that hospitals existed ‘only on paper.
What a candidate must look for in choosing a medical college. A few points are mentioned here. First, the candidate must look at how old is the medical institute and the number of PG courses it is providing. The hospital runs what is patient flow in that college.
The most important factor is infrastructure, the institute must have relevant machinery, a lab, a library for research papers, super speciality department. The other factors that should be kept in mind while choosing a medical college are compulsory rural service years, and stipend during clinical rotation internship.
MBBS College has enough facilities such as a well-equipped library, laboratory, hostel, sports facilities, and other essential amenities.
