TNEA Admission in engineering colleges of the states-The admission is offered to the engineering colleges of the state. The authority does not conduct any entrance test for admission. The admission is offered on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying exam.

The Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2024 process, conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), Tamil Nadu, includes several key steps and important dates:

1. Registration and Application:
   1. The registration for TNEA 2024 began on May 6, 2024, and the application window closed on June 11, 2024. The application process required candidates to fill out forms, upload necessary documents, and pay the application fee online​
2. Rank List and Random Number:
   1. A random number, which is used as a tie-breaker in the ranking process, was released on June 12, 2024. The rank list, based on candidates’ Class 12 marks, will be published on July 10, 2024
3. Counselling Process:
   1. TNEA counselling is set to commence in the last week of July 2024. The counselling process involves multiple rounds, including choice filling, seat allotment, and confirmation of seat allotment​.
   1. Verification of certificates is scheduled from June 13 to June 30, 2024. During the counselling, candidates need to provide documents such as Class 10 and 12 mark sheets, community certificate (if applicable), and other relevant certificates​
4. Eligibility Criteria:
   1. Candidates must have passed their Class 12 examinations with a focus on Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. The marks in these subjects are normalized and considered for the rank list​
5. Participating Institutes:
   1. TNEA includes a large number of participating institutes, offering around 160,000 seats across various engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu. Some prominent colleges include Thiagarajar College of Engineering, PSG College of Technology, and Madras Institute of Technology in about 500 colleges of Tamil Nadu

Merit List

The merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the 10+2. The higher marks in both Mathematics and Physics puts you up in the first list
