National Defence Academy NDA Exam

The National Defence Academy NDA exam is organized twice a year i.e. NDA (1) April session and NDA (II) November session by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The candidates need to clear the written test by scoring the minimum cut-off marks.
After which they can appear for a 5- a Days Service Selection Board (SSB) Interview round and hence get admission into National Defence Academy and Naval Academy. The candidates after qualifying for the interview round of SSB have to go through the medical examination and document verification procedure.

Eligibility for National Defence Academy NDA:

  • For Army Wing of National Defence Academy:—12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent 6 examinations conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
  • Air Force, Naval(NDA) and INA Cadet Entry Scheme
  • Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy
  • 12th Class pass with subjects – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
  • NDA-NA – Appearing Candidates: Candidates who are appearing in the 12th Class under the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this examination.

Admit Card
Only eligible candidates shall be issued an e-Admit Card three weeks before the commencement of the examination. The e-Admit Card will be made available on the UPSC website (upsconline.nic.in)

Candidates should note that there will be a penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Papers.

Black Pen in Exam
The candidate must use a black ball pen only for both writing and marking answers in the OMR sheet (Answer Sheet). Do not use Pencil or Ink pen.

Navy 42 (including 03 female candidates)
Air Force-following is the breakup vacancies-:
Flying – 92 (including 02 for female candidates)
Ground Duties (Tech) – 18 (including 02 for female candidates)
Ground Duties (Non-Tech) – 10 (including 02 for female candidates)
Naval Academy (10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme) 30 (for male candidates only)
