IIT Bombay the most preferred institute for admission
 
This year in the first round of admission spree for IITs the top 100 students picked up IIT Bombay as their first choice for academic year 2022-23 while IIT Delhi and IIT Madras stands at distance no 2 and no 3
 
It is interesting to note that 93 out of 100 have opted for IIT Bombay as their first choice. Most of these students opted for computer science. But not all made it to their favorite institutions only 66 students could make it to the IIT B.
Rest 28 students made to the IIT Delhi and rest to the IIT Madras. Computer science has been their choice of course as 9 out of 10 students opted this course.
 
Similar situation was also seen last year as 48 preferred IIT B for admission and 47 chose computer science as their preferred course. Last year 62 joined IIT B and 32 chose IIT D.
What is the reason for picking up IIT B?
 
The reason could be many but it looks the geography to gastronomy and above all placement record. It is the case that coaching institutes are telling students to join the IIT Bombay.
 
Which institutes has been the choice for the students in selecting he institutes by the top 1000 students. They are as follows-:
  • IIT Bombay
  • IIT Delhi
  • IIT Roorkee
  • IIT Madras


After these institutes students made a choice for following institutes
 
  • IIT Kanpur
  • IIT Kharagpur
  • IIT Hyderabad
 
A total of 2.44 lakhs registered for seat allocation through Joint seat allocation authority this year. The male students were 1.51 lakh,45,370 were female students. Third gender students were also there but only 3 have filled choices for seats in participating institutions.
54,477 seats were available this year in 114 institutions including IITS,NITs, IIEST, and other government funded technical institutions across the country.
IIT Kharagpur has the maximum seats and variety of courses as stated by Prof.Suryanarayana Doolia.
The following choices of courses by students this year-:
·         Computer science
·         Electrical engineering
·         Electronic and communication engineering
·         Mechanical engineering.
·         Bio tech/bio medical engineering
Around 30,000 students opted for biotech/biomedical engineering
