The Examination authority has decided to discontinue options in Section B where a candidates has to attempt five questions out of total 10 questions since 2021.

The practice was adopted as covid 19 spread in world over. As the WHO has declared the end of covid 19 as public health emergency on May 5 2023.
It has been decided to discontinue the optional selection of questions. Now JEE Main Examination structure to return to its original structure where an appearing student has to attempt all five questions in Section B with out any options for selection JEE Main 2025 for Paper I (B.E/BTech)

Section B contains the following questions
This section of JEE Main contains the numerical questions
Section B consists of numerical value questions where the answer is a number (integer or decimal), and the candidate must enter this value.
Unlike multiple-choice questions (MCQs) in Section A, these questions do not have options to choose from.
Candidates have to calculate the answer and enter the exact numerical value in the space provided.
Marking
For each correct answer, 4 marks are awarded.
Importance of Section B
Numerical value questions in Section B test the candidate’s conceptual understanding and ability to solve problems without the help of options.
This section usually involves more detailed calculations compared to MCQs, as candidates need to derive the answer themselves.
