IIT Madras Survey More than seventy percent of Chennai Homes Have Contaminated Water – The survey taken by researchers and students they collected the sample from 752 household. The samples collected from Tap, borewell and other sources.

The result of this contaminated water is that since the water has diarrhea causing bacteria. The study says that even those using purifier has risks because of their non maintenance of purifier said Suzan Kagan of Tel Aviv University and one of the coordinator of the water quality programme in IIT Madras.
T Pradeep one of the course instructor said most of these houses have children at home. T Pradeep suggest that we should use water wisely as it generally asks to follow instruction of water purifier,Keep water container airtight. The bacteria are stored in taps and sinks.

The survey also found that 58 percent of children under age 5 drink water from the tap while 15 % rely on the treated water system
Among those using treatment systems, 73% rated the water good compared to only 31% among households without any water treatment system at home.
