The result of this contaminated water is that since the water has diarrhea causing bacteria. The study says that even those using purifier has risks because of their non maintenance of purifier said Suzan Kagan of Tel Aviv University and one of the coordinator of the water quality programme in IIT Madras.

The survey also found that 58 percent of children under age 5 drink water from the tap while 15 % rely on the treated water system

Among those using treatment systems, 73% rated the water good compared to only 31% among households without any water treatment system at home.
