IIT Kanpur to Celebrate 65th Foundation

Kanpur, 28 October 2024: IIT Kanpur will celebrate its 65 foundation day on November 2 2024 and Rajnath Singh Defence Minister will address on this the occasion.Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, Chairperson of the Board of Governors (BoG) at IIT Kanpur, will grace the occasion as the guest of honour, enhancing the importance of this event while sharing his insights with the students.

18 Alumni to receive Awards

On the occasion of the 65th Foundation Day, IIT Kanpur will honor its 18 alumni with prestigious awards. These include the Distinguished Alumnus Awards, recognizing alumni who have made outstanding contributions in their respective fields; 

Distinguished Service Awards, celebrating those who have significantly contributed to the institute’s growth and mission; 

Young Alumnus Awards, acknowledging alumni for their remarkable achievements in the early stages of their career, The Institute will extend three 

Institute Fellows Awards to recognize and honour the faculty members who have eminently contributed to the overall growth of the Institute. These awards reflect the excellence and values fostered by IIT Kanpur.

SIIC for Patent

SIIC acts as a Technology Transfer Office of the Institute and provides professional aid to the IITK Faculty and students for filing patents and copyrights. So far, the centre has filed 242 patents

Education

IITK offers a liberal undergraduate education, where knowledge of science and technology is part of a broader knowledge platform. A student has the choice of opting for more than 50% of courses outside of the student’s chosen department. Of these a student can opt for more than 25% of courses that are in fields such as management and humanities.

The postgraduate programmes that cover science, engineering, humanities and management create a highly diverse atmosphere conducive to interdisciplinary interaction.

IITK offers travel support to PhD students for academic purposes, including, on merit, support for presenting research papers in international conferences held abroad
