IGNOU OpenNet for PB Nursing. OpenNet is an entrance test conducted by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) for admission to its Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing program. It is a university-level test that is conducted in 67 cities across India. The test is based on the General Nursing Midwifery (GNM) syllabus prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council (INC). The concept of teaching revolves around Open Distance Learning (ODL) mode, which enables students to nurture their skills and knowledge while pursuing their education.

Eligibility
Working nurse, D. H. Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife (RNRM) with 10+2 and three-year Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) with at least two years of professional experience (after registration as an RNRM). (Male Nurses who are not practising midwifery under the GNM scheme should obtain a certificate in one of the nursing courses of 6 to 9 months prescribed by the Nursing Council of India in lieu of midwifery.) Or Professional Nurse Practitioner (RNRM) with Class 10 (Pre-Midwifery) ) or equivalent, with a three-year Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) and at least five years of professional experience (after registration as an RNRM). (Male nurses who have not completed the midwifery course under the GNM scheme should obtain a certificate in one of the nursing courses of 6 to 9 months prescribed by the Nursing Council of India in lieu of the midwifery course.)
Who cannot Apply?
Note: Candidates with 10+2 and GNM must not apply if their experience after RNRM is less than two years. Candidates with 10th class and GNM must not apply if they have less than 5 years of experience after RNRM.
Age of Admission:-There is no maximum age limit.
Duration of Programme The minimum duration of the programme is three years.
However, the students are given a maximum period of six years to complete the programme.
Medium of Instruction English
The entrance test will comprise 120 multiple-choice questions (comprising sections A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H) (bearing one mark each) drawn from various subjects taught in GNM. A model Question paper for the entrance examination
Declaration of result and counselling
The result of the entrance test will be uploaded on the IGNOU website www.ignou.ac.in. Further information on the next step of the admission process will be communicated by the concerned Regional Centre. So, contact the Regional Centre for further information. l
Candidates will be required to submit self-attested copies of the following certificates at the time of Counseling/Admission along with original copies of all the documents for verification during counselling which will be conducted at the concerned regional centre: Ø
- Original admit card for entrance test.
- Certificate of date of birth (10th class certificate).
- 10+2 pass certificate/10th class certificate as applicable.
- Valid RNRM Registration Certificate (In case of registration from more than one state nursing council, produce all the certificates at the time of admission counselling)
- Experience Certificate/s (On Letter Head of the competent authority with full name, date and signature with stamp).
- Experience will be counted after RNRM registration till the last date of receipt of the application form by the University.
- GNM Mark sheet (Overall and mark sheet of all years). Ø Certificate from the organization, where you are currently working, clearly indicating that you are presently working and in service.
- Category Certificate indicating reservation status for SC/ST/Non Creamy layer of OBC /PH/ Kashmiri Migrant/War Widow/EWS etc.
- Income certificate in case of Non-creamy layer of OBC/EWS.
Selection Procedure
IGNOU will prepare the merit list region-wise for admission to Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing January will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the OPENNET – (Entrance Test) and will be displayed on the IGNOU website/regional centre website after the declaration of results.
Experience
Experience will be calculated from the date of registration as an RNRM to the last date of receipt of the application form as shown in the advertisement. For female candidates registered as RN and RM respectively, experience will be calculated from the date of RM registration. However, for male candidates, the experience will be calculated from the date of registration as an RN to the last date of receipt of the application form, provided they have completed an INC-approved course in lieu of midwifery training before applying for the entrance examination.
The application form for the OPENNET exam is released online, and candidates can apply as per the schedule provided by IGNOU. Re-Registration
“Re-registering” may mean registering for courses in the next semester/school year. Learners are advised to submit the Re-Registration (RR) form ‘online’ on the portal www.ignou.ac.in. As per the schedule notified by the University from time to time, irrespective of whether the learner appeared for the examination or passed the course registered for the current academic session
If the Re-Registration in any of the programmes is not available online or for any other reason as specified by the University, Learners should submit their RR forms at the respective Regional Centre ONLY and nowhere else. If any student submits the ‘Offline’ Re-Registration Form at any other Regional Centre than the allocated Regional Centre and consequently misses the scheduled date and a semester/ year, he/ she will have no claim on the University for regularization.
Study Material and Assignments
Universities may choose to provide copies of self-study materials rather than printed materials. Learners who choose the electronic version will receive a 15% discount on course fees. Learners must specify the relevant options when filling out the online admission form. These learners will not receive printed self-study materials. The University sends students’ study documents via registered/speed post. If the student does not receive these documents for any reason,the university cannot be held responsible for this. Assignments for the current session will be available on the website. It is recommended that students download it.
