Foundation stone of Shri Ram Auditorium laid at DU SOL-The foundation stone of Shri Ram Auditorium was laid on Wednesday, 22 January in the Department of Distance and Continuing Education, Open Learning School, Open Learning Campus of Delhi University. On this occasion, President of Red Cross Society-Delhi Branch and educationist Mrs. Sangeeta Saxena was present as the chief guest and the program was presided over by Vice Chancellor of Delhi University Prof. Yogesh Singh. Brilliant students were also honored during this program organized in the auditorium of SOL.

On this occasion, Delhi University Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh said that Ram has a lot of utility in education. Shri Ram is the soul of India and if there is an auditorium in the name of such a personality, then only good feelings will be generated. The Vice Chancellor said that we see Ram from our perspective, whereas Ram is beyond perspective; and education does the work of creating perspective. On this occasion, Mrs. Sangeeta Saxena said in her address that those who have a passion to study study in open learning. Addressing the students, she said that if we get something, then the responsibility of giving or returning something in return increases even more. Encouraging the students, Mrs. Saxena said that do not wait for anyone’s permission to fly, these wings are yours and this sky is also yours.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh, while highlighting the importance of education, said that if your presence brings something good to the lives of others, then you are successful. He said that money can be a parameter of success, position can be a parameter of success, but these are not the only parameters of success. Along with this, the Vice Chancellor, while emphasizing the changes in open learning with time, said that we have to change the face of distance education in our country. Teachers should design the entire course like a web series and make attention-grabbing videos of 40-45 minutes. You have to set examples in your field.
During the program, a postal van was flagged off for distribution of SOL’s Self Learning Material (SLM). Along with this, the foundation stone was unveiled and the sports policy document was released. During the program, the top five meritorious students were also honored. All the female students who got more than 8.5 CGPA were also specially awarded during the ceremony. Along with this, the call center, meeting room, and dedicated crèche facility for infants of the Open Education School were also inaugurated. This crèche is a commendable arrangement for the children of the school staff.

At the beginning of the program, COL Director Prof. Payal Mago welcomed the guests and presented a detailed report about SOL and COL. At the end of the program, SOL Principal Prof. Ajay Jaiswal presented a vote of thanks. On this occasion, Dean of Colleges Prof. Balram Pani and Director of South Campus Prof. Shri Prakash Singh along with many teachers, officers and students were present.
Republic Day celebration in Delhi University
On the occasion of 76th Republic Day, Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh hoisted the tricolor at Delhi University. Yogesh Singh the Vice Chancellor said that the Indian Constitution has given all of us the right to vote. It is our duty to exercise this right. Tthe Vice Chancellor said that today we should take a pledge that we will always vote in life. In his address, he said that a lot has happened in the 75 years of the Republic. India has proved to be the largest and most effective democracy in the world.
Discussing the various provisions of the Indian Constitution, the Vice Chancellor said that democracy is in every person and heart of India, so till date there has never been a conflict in the transfer of power here. We are proud of the strength of our democracy. Explaining in detail the theme of 76th Republic Day “Swarnim Bharat: Heritage and Development”, the Vice Chancellor said that heritage is the basis of the concept of development. Prof. Yogesh Singh said that to strengthen the country, there should be talk on national interest, not on self-interest. The feeling of ‘everything of mine belongs to the nation’ should be developed in universities.
