Engineering Graduate opening at Indian Army -The Indian Army has invited application forms from eligible unmarried Male and unmarried Female Engineering Graduates and also from Widows of Indian Armed Forces Defence Personnel who died in harness for grant of Short Service Commission (SSC) in the Indian Army. The selection will be done through two two-stage selection procedures. The candidate who clears Stage I will be put into the second stage. Those who fail in Stage I will be asked to return. SSB is a five-day process.
Eligibility.
- Nationality. A candidate must either be:- (i) A citizen of India,
- or a subject of Nepal, or (iii) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia and Vietnam to permanently settle in India, provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii) and (iii) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by Government of India. Certificate of eligibility will however not be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal.
- A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary, will attach such certificate alongwith the application.
Age Limit.
- For SSC(Tech)- 63 Men and SSCW(Tech)- 34 Women. 20 to 27 years as on 01 Oct 2024 (Candidates born between 02 Oct 1997 and 01 Oct 2004, both days inclusive).
- For Widows of Indian Armed Forces Defence Personnel who Died in Harness Only. SSCW (Non Tech) [Non UPSC] and SSCW(Tech)- A maximum of 35 years of age as on 01 Oct 2024.

Educational Qualification
Candidates must have an Engineering Degree course or are in the final year of the Engineering Degree course are eligible to apply.
Candidates studying in the final year of an Engineering degree must submit proof of passing the Engineering Degree Examination alongwith marksheets of all semesters/years by 01 OCT 2024 and produce the Engineering Degree Certificate within 12 weeks from the date of commencement of training at PreCommissioning Training Academy (PCTA). Such candidates will be inducted on an Additional Bond Basis for recovery of the cost of training at the Pre-Commissioning Training Academy (PCTA) as notified from time to time as well as stipend and pay & allowances paid, in case they fail to produce the requisite degree certificate.

Selection Procedure
The Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) retains the authority to select applications and establish a minimum percentage of marks for each Engineering subject, without providing any justification. The cut-off will be applied to the cumulative percentage of marks obtained by candidates up to their final semester/year. Candidates who are currently in their final semester/year of study will be conditionally permitted to participate in the SSB, provided that they meet the following requirements: (i) Candidates’ aggragative percentage of marks up to the 6th semester/3rd year of their Engineering degree, up to the 8th semester/4th year of B. Architecture (B. Arch), or up to the 2nd semester/1st year of M.Sc in the relevant stream/discipline should not be lesser than the recommended cut off percentage of 19 in their respective streams. (ii) When the result is declared, the aggregate percentage of marks up to the final semester/year of the degree course must also meet or exceed the approved cut-off percentage. Failure to meet this requirement will result in the cancellation of the candidate’s candidature.
Candidates who meet the specified cut-off percentage will be selected for interviews at any one of the Centres at Allahabad (UP), Bhopal (MP), Bengaluru (Karnataka), and Jalandhar Cantonment (Punjab).
At the centre Psychologist, Group Testing Officer, and officer will conduct the interviews. The letter intimating about SSB interview will be sent to the candidate’s registered e-mail ID and through SMS by the respective Selection Centres. The decision regarding the allotment of the Selection Centre rests with the Directorate General of Recruiting, IHQ of MoD (Army), and Director General of Recruiting will not entertain any changes.
Candidates have to pass two stages in the selection procedure. Those who clear Stage 1 will go to Stage 2. Those who fail in Stage 1 will be returned on the same day. The duration of SSB interviews is five days, and details of the same are available on the official website of the Directorate General of Recruiting i.e. www.joinindianarmy.nic.in. This will be followed by a medical examination for the candidates who get recommended after Stage 2.
Joining letter
Candidates who are medically fit and recommended by the SSB will be issued a Joining Letter for training in the order of merit, depending on the number of vacancies available, subject to meeting all eligibility criteria.

Those who have registered on the website is not required to register again.
Now fill out the online registration form after reading the instructions carefully.
When you have registered, click on ‘Apply Online’ under Dashboard.
A page ‘Officers Selection – ‘Eligibility’ will open.
Then click ‘Apply’ shown against the Short Service Commission Technical Course.
A page ‘Application Form’ will open.
Read the instructions carefully and click ‘Continue’ to fill details as required under various segments – Personal information, Communication details, Education details and details of previous SSB.
‘Save & Continue’ each time before you go to the next segment.
After filling details on the last segment, it will go to a page ‘Summary of your information’ wherein you can check and edit the entries already made.
Here candidates have to be sure all their details, and click on ‘Submit’.
Candidates must click on ‘Submit’ each time they open the application to edit any details.
The candidates are required to take out two copies of their application having Roll Number, 30 minutes after final closure of online application on the last day.
