Genome India Project

Genome India Project Launched on 9 January 2025 by PM Narendra Modi. Its historic milestone in the country;s biotechnology research. Despite of challenges like Covid 19 Indian scientist have successfully completed genome sequencing of 10,000 individuals. It creates the diverse genetic database which is housed at the Indian Biological Data Centre. Over 20 premier institutions such as IISc Banglore,IITs and CSIR contributed to this initiative.

E Shram Portal in 22 Schedule Languages

Ministry of Labour has launched the upgraded E-Shram portal which is available in all 22 Scheduled languages leveraging MEITY’s Bhasini Project. The portal has only four languages earlier, now with 22 languages this will help the local labour to understand the language on the portal. Mansukh Mandivya Minister of Labour and Employmnent said that registration on the portal has grown beyond 30,000 daily

Organic Fisheries cluster in Sikkim

The first organic Fisheries Cluster in Soreng district of Sikkim was inaugurated by Rajiv Ranjan Union Minister of Fisheries. The project is supported by NABARD for financial and technical aid. It will focus on antibiotic free eco conscious fish farming.

The government has launched 50 key fisheries projects across the NE region with an investment of Rs.50 crores creating over 4000 jobs

Rule of LCO Local Cable Operator

Upon successful verification of applicant details, including Aadhaar, PAN, CIN, DIN etc., LCO registration certificates will be issued in real-time. Also, a provision for appeal against the denial of registration or renewal for LCO registration has been added.

Earlier, LCO Registration process was carried out at the local head post office of the area in which the office of the LCO is situated in an offline mode with Head Postmaster as their registering authority. The manual registration process was cumbersome and time consuming. Also, the area of operations upon obtaining registration was limited to specific areas. 

JV with Nepal Electricity Authority

Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA) has finalized a Joint Venture Agreement with SJVN Ltd., GMR Energy Ltd., and Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) for the development of the 900 MW Upper Karnali Hydro-electric Project in Nepal. This strategic initiative aims to strengthen regional energy security and accelerate renewable energy growth.

The joint venture agreement lays out a comprehensive framework for the project development, construction, operation, and maintenance under a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) model, with 25-years project term from the Commercial Operation Date (CoD).

New LTC offer for government employees

They can now travel in 136 Vande Bharat, 97 Humsafar and 8 Tejas Express trains. Government Employees were already availing luxurious AC travel in 144 existing high-end trains in the category of Rajdhani, Shatabdi & Duronto series. With this decision, there will be a total 385 trains across all the regions of the country where they are operating in which tickets can be booked for LTC travel by the government employees.

This is meant for central government employee.

India’s 1st of its kind CSIR Innovation complex in Mumbai today.

In order to boost innovation, industry collaboration and employment generation the 6 memorandum of association signed between CSIR and 6 prestigious institutes such as IIT Bombay, icreate, NRDC . Strengthen startups 50 technology transfer took place from CSIR institutes to startups, Msme’s and institutions.

The IC Mumbai, spread over nine floors, is equipped with 24 “ready-to-move” incubation labs and furnished office/ networking spaces for innovative start-ups, MSMEs and industry and CSIR labs

Dr. N Kalaiselvi shared that not just in India but CSIR is collaborating internationally with 4 countries namely Germany, Norway, Switzerland etc.

Third Launch Pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre of ISRO

Third Launch Pad (TLP) at Satish Dhawan Space Centre of ISRO at Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

The Third Launch Pad project envisages the establishment of the launch infrastructure at Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh for the Next Generation Launch Vehicles of ISRO and also to support as standby launch pad for the Second Launch Pad at Sriharikota. This will also enhance the launch capacity for future Indian human spaceflight missions.

The Project is of national importance.

Space Docking Equipment of ISRO

n a historic achievement, the Space Docking Experiment (SpaDeX) mission’s docking operation was successfully completed on 16th January, 2025 marking India’s entry into the elite group of nations capable of executing space docking operations. With this success, India becomes the fourth country in the world to achieve this technological feat. ISRO started the mission on 30th December 2024, with the successful launch of the SpaDeX spacecrfts using Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV)-C60, from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota. This groundbreaking mission aims to showcase India’s technological prowess in spacecraft rendezvous, docking, and undocking — a critical capability for future advancements such as satellite servicing, space station operations, and interplanetary exploration.

Vadnagar Inaugurates a World-Class Archaeological Experiential Museum

The museum complex, spanning 12,500 sq. m., houses nine thematic galleries and features a 4,000 sq. m. excavation site with remains visible up to 16-18 meters deep. With an investment of Rs. 298 Crore, the project ensures long-term sustainability, encompassing capital costs and five years of operations and maintenance.

NITI Aayog partner with New Shop Retail Chain

Women Entreprenueurship Platform of NITI aayog has partnered with New Shop which is a India’s largest conventional retail chain has launched EmpowHER Biz –Sapno ki Udaan. Under this project 50 women from select states will be trained in retail management,digital tools and business development. Top 20 participant will receive 100 per cent waiver on New Shop franchise fees thus enabling them to set up their own retail shop with minimal barrier

PLI 1.1 For Steel Industry Launched

Union Minister HD Kumarswamy launched this scheme for the steel industry highlighting its potential to enhance domestic production of specialty steel and boost employment opportunities significantly in India. The scheme covers the five key product categories is expected to generate over 14,000 direct jobs while creating indirect employment across the supply chain. There is an initial investment of Rs.27,106 crore and production target of 7.9 million tonnes of specialty steels that will reduce the import of steels.
