Civil Service Exam, 2024.  Union Public Service Commission will release the application form in the month of February 2024 for conducting the qualifying exam to recruit IAS, IPS, IFS, and IRS. UPSC organizes this exam in two phase i.e., preliminary and Main exam. The last stage is the Interview which is a very important and final step to joining the service.

The candidate first appears for the Prelims Test, After clearing the prelims exam the next step is to appear for the Mains Exam and the last stage comes when you clear the main, this is the final stage i.e.,  interview or personality test.

After the Qualifying preliminary Exam, there is a DAF form that a candidate has to fill out to appear in the main exam. We have given the details below the two processes before appearing in the final stage i.e., the Interview

 DAF form-I

The candidates who are declared qualified preliminary exam for admission to the Civil Services (Main) Examination will have to apply online again and submit online Detailed Application Form-I [DAF-I] along with scanned documents/certificates in support of date of birth, category {viz. SC/ST/ OBC (without OBC Annexure) /EWS [Economically Weaker Sections /PwBD / Ex-Serviceman} and educational qualification with required Examination Fee.

DAF form-II

The candidates who are qualified for the Civil Services (Main) Examination will be required to mandatorily indicate the order of preferences only for those services participating in the Civil Services Examination for the year, for which he is interested in the on-line Detailed Application Form-II [DAF-II], before the commencement of Personality Tests (Interview)

IAS/PCS Preference

The candidates who wish to indicate IAS/IPS as their Service preference are advised to indicate all the Zones and Cadres in the order of preference in their online DAF-II as per the extant Cadre Allocation Policy applicable for the Civil Services Examination,

Eligibility

  1. a citizen of India,
  2. or  a subject of Nepal,
  3. or a subject of Bhutan,
  4. or  a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India,
  5. or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Age

A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years

Cut off marks on the basis of GS Paper-I only. GS Paper-II was of a qualifying nature with 33% marks as per Rule 15 of the Civil Services Examination, 2021.

Subject to 10% marks in each of the seven competitive papers i.e. Essay, GS-I, GS-II, GS-III, GS-IV, Optional-I and Optional-II.

Wherever two or more candidates have secured equal aggregate marks in the Civil Services Examination, 2024, the tie(s) have been resolved in accordance with the principles approved by the Commission, viz.

i)Candidate securing more marks in the Compulsory Papers# and the Personality Test put together is to be ranked higher; and

(ii) In the case where the marks mentioned at (i) above are equal, the candidate senior in age is to be ranked higher.
