Civil Service will be conducted as per its schedule i.e., on 4
October 2020. A petition was filed in the supreme court for postponing the exam. But the Supreme Court has rejected the plea. Now the students preparing for the exam must concentrate on appearing on the given date.
As we all know that the petitioners were demanding the postponement of UPSC Civil Service exam mentioning holding an exam in pandemic time will be “lack of level playing field”.
Several other states have postponed the state-level public service exam
these are Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan. The petitioners also claim that no respite has been offered to people who are frontline corona workers including doctors, administrators etc who are also aspirants for the exam.
The Supreme Court further said they are not impressed on merging the
preliminary exam for 2020 and 2021 attempts, Resorting to this will lead to
cascading effect on other exams as stated in Affidavit. UPSC should make available all facilities and follow all protocol,” as reported by Bar and Bench.
In another plea the Supreme Court (SC) today asked the Centre to consider
offering one more attempt to candidates who are in their last attempt for the Civil Service Exam (CSE).
The bench said, “This extra attempt is meant for the ones who are taking the last attempt as they might not able to appear due to the pandemic.”
the apex court further said, “Explore the possibility for giving them one more
attempt to such exams without extending the age limit”.
