CAT score
The CAT score is calculated based on the number of correct and incorrect answers given by a candidate in each section of the exam. The raw score is then scaled to arrive at the final score, which is expressed in percentage. The CAT percentile is a measure of a candidate’s performance relative to other candidates who appeared for the exam. The percentile is calculated separately for each section and for the overall score. The CAT score is also used by non-IIM institutes for admission to their management programs
The minimum CAT percentile required for admission to IIMs varies depending on the institute and category of the applicant. For general category candidates, the estimated percentile required for CAT is above 99, which translates to a score of around 70-75 marks in all sections of the exam. However, to receive a call from top IIMs such as IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and Calcutta, a CAT percentile of 99 or higher is typically required. The minimum CAT cutoff for admission to any IIM or top MBA college in India is expected to be 95 percentile for the 2025 exam.
