Amazon Future Engineer is Amazon’s signature computer science education program. Students explore computer science through school curriculum and project- based learning using code to make music, program robots, and solve problems.
Through the program, Amazon is covering millions of students from historically underrepresented communities globally through Amazon Future Engineer with real-world inspired virtual and hands-on computer science project learning. The program is available in the U.S., U.K., Canada, France, and India.
The program was launched by Amazaon in the year 2021 in India and has partnered with several education-focused non-profit organisations including Leadership for Equity, Learning Links Foundation, Pi Jam Foundation, American India Foundation, Code.org, Educational Initiatives, Peepul, The Innovation Story, NavGurukul and Foundation for Excellence; to engage with students and provide them critical learning opportunities. Through this extensive partner network, Amazon has also engaged with key government bodies, policy makers, teachers and the management of thousands of government schools to implement the AFE program in Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.
The program is a part of Amazon’s global initiative to provide access to computer science education for underprivileged students. While the program is led by Amazon, it often collaborates with various government bodies, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations to amplify its reach. However, it is not directly a government initiative of India but rather a collaboration with government schools and organizations to deliver its goals.
