Sainik Schools are English medium residential schools affiliated to CBSE. They prepare cadets to join the National Defence Academy, Indian Naval Academy and other Training Academies, for Officers. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has approved 19 New Sainik Schools, which operate in partnership with NGOs/private schools/State Governments. These approved New Sainik Schools function under the aegis of Sainik Schools Society. Admission to the Sainik School stream of Class VI of the New Sainik Schools, for the academic year 2025-26 is also through AISSEE-2025.

Admission to Sainik Schools is open to boys and girls who meet the eligibility criteria set by the All India Sainik Schools Society. For Class 6 admissions, students must be between 10-12 years of age as of March 31, 2024, while for Class 9 admissions, the age limit is 13-15 years. Additionally, only Indian citizens are eligible to apply for the All India Sainik School Entrance Exam (AISSEE) 2024. This eligibility criterion ensures that the schools remain accessible to students who are dedicated to serving their country.

The application process for the AISSEE 2025 begins in November, 2024, and the last date to submit the application form is December, 2024. The application form can be filled online, and applicants must provide accurate information, including personal details, academic records, and other necessary documents. Candidates can also make corrections to their application form during the correction window, which is open from December 18 to December, 2024. It is essential to keep track of the important dates to ensure that the application process is completed on time.

The selection procedure for admission to Sainik Schools involves two stages: the written examination (AISSEE) and the medical examination. The AISSEE 2024 exam for Class 6 will consist of 125 multiple-choice questions, while the exam for Class 9 will have 150 questions. The exam pattern includes subjects such as Mathematics, English, General Knowledge, and Intelligence Test. To qualify for admission, candidates must score a minimum of 40% aggregate marks and a minimum of 25% marks in each subject. After the written examination, shortlisted candidates will undergo a medical examination to ensure that they meet the physical fitness criteria set by the Sainik Schools Society. The final merit list will be prepared based on the candidate’s performance in both the written and medical examinations

60-40% Criteria

40% route: – Minimum 40% of the seats under the Sainik School stream in approved NSSs will be filled on the basis of the rank secured in the All India Merit List of AISSEE 2024. Domicile/Category are not considered for this Merit List.

Candidates can opt for any NSS in India, at the time of counselling.

 60% route: – Up to 60% of the seats in NSSs will be filled by those who are currently studying in any of the approved NSSs. They will be filled on the basis of rank.

Qualifying Marks

Min. 25% marks in each section and 40% marks in the aggregate. This does not apply to SC, ST candidates

VI Standard

A merit list will be prepared based on the marks secured in AISSEE 2025. It will be prepared School, category-wise (Home State and outside State), and separately

IX Standard

A merit list will be prepared based on the marks secured in AISSEE 2025. It will be prepared on All India basis

Combination Opted

A candidate who is currently not studying in any New Sainik School can opt for any of the combinations given below

Class VI

  1. Sainik School only 2) SS+ Approved New Sainik Schools (NSS) – 40% route (In that order of priority)
  2. For IX The applicant is required to select a Sainik School while applying.

Selection of NSS in the application form

A candidate who is opting for admission to an approved New Sainik School under the 40% route is not required to select any approved New Sainik School while applying. He can opt for any approved New Sainik School in India, at the time of e-counselling.

Age criteria are the same as for boys. Candidates are advised to check the availability of seats for girls from Appendix VI-A carefully

A candidate should be between 13 and 15 years old as on 31 March 2025, for admission to Class IX, i.e. he/ she should have been born between 01 April 2010 and 31 March 2012 (both days inclusive) for admission to the academic year 2024-25. · Admission for Girls is open for Class IX, subject to the availability of vacancies. Age criteria are the same as for boys.

Eligibility requirements (under 40% route):

· A candidate should be between 10 and 12 years old as on 31 March 2025 for admission to Class VI, i.e. he/she should have been born between 01 April 2013 and 31 March 2015 (both days inclusive) for admission to the academic year 2025-26. · Admission for Girls is open for Class VI. Age criteria are the same as for boys. Candidates are advised to check the availability of seats for girls from the website of the approved New Sainik School concerned.

· A candidate should be between 10 and 12 years old as of 31 March 2025 for admission to Class VI, i.e. he/she should have been born between 01 April 2013 and 31 March 2015 (both days inclusive) for admission to the academic year 2024-25. · Admission for Girls is open for Class VI. Age criteria are the same as for boys. Candidates are advised to check the availability of seats for girls from the website of the approved New Sainik School concerned.

Seats Reservation

67% of the seats are reserved for candidates domiciled in the State/ UT where the Sainik School is located. 33% of the seats are reserved for candidates from Other States and Union Territories (UT).

Category wise reservation

(a) 15% of the seats are reserved for the category Scheduled Caste (SC),

(b) 7.5% for the category Scheduled Tribe (ST) and

(c) 27% for the category Other Backward Classes belonging to the Non-Creamy layer (OBCNCL) as per the central list

COMMON SERVICES CENTRES/FACILITATION CENTRES

Candidates who are not conversant and are facing difficulties in the online application due to various constraints can use the services of the Common Services Centre, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India under the Digital India initiatives of the Hon’ble Prime Minister. The Common Services Centre (CSC) scheme is a part of the ambitious National eGovernance Plan (NeGP) of the Government of India and is managed at each village panchayat level by a Village Level Entrepreneur (VLE)
