AFMS Medical Officer The AFMS has released a notification for recruitment of short service commissioned medical officer. Interested and eligible candidates can apply for this application from July 16 to August 04, 2024.
Application are invited for the post of short service commission medical officer in Armed Forces Medical Service from Indian Citizens both male and female, who have passed their final MBBS (Part-I & Part-II) examination in not more than two attempts and have completed their internship by August 15, 2024 and have qualified in the NEET PG during 2022, 2023 years.
Selected candidates undergo military training, which includes both medical and military aspects to prepare them for their roles in the armed forces. Joining as a Short Service Commissioned (SSC) Medical Officer in the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) is a prestigious and rewarding opportunity.

Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant must possess medical qualification as contained in the national medical commission Act 2019.
- The applicant must have permanent registration from any State Medical Council/MCI/NMC. Post Graduate Degree holders recognized by State Medical Council/MCI/NBE/NMC may also apply.
- Nationality: Delhi, Indian
- Physical Fitness: Candidates must be physically and medically fit as per the standards set by the Armed Forces.

Selection Process
- Shortlisting: Applications are shortlisted based on academic performance and other criteria.
- Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview at a designated location. The interview panel usually consists of senior officers from the AFMS.
- Medical Examination: Candidates who clear the interview undergo a comprehensive medical examination to ensure they meet the physical and medical standards required.
- Merit List: A final merit list is prepared based on the candidate’s performance in the interview and medical examination
SERVICE COMMITMENT:
SSC Medical Officers are usually required to serve for a minimum period, typically 5-10 years, after which they can choose to either continue their service or opt for release
