Government approved the opening of 28 new navodaya vidyalaya in the country. This will be opened in the uncovered area of the country Navodaya Vidyalaya Scheme (Central Sector Scheme).

The amount needed for establishment of these schools is Rs. 2359.82 crore spread over a period of five years from 2024-25 to 2028-29. The bifurcation of this capital expenditure Rs. 1944.19 crore and operational expenditure of Rs. 415.63 crore.
Again it will be opportunities for the employment as opening of these schools need staff both teaching and non teaching. One can estimate that one NV admit around 500 students so by adding these school around 15000 students will be benefitted by this. Around 1300 will be required as on e NV provide job to 47 candidates so multiplying with 28 school has this number.

It would not stop here even the skilled and unskilled labour will get the jobs. Since NV schools are residential in nature so it will create opportunities to local vendors for supply of commodities such food,consumables,furniture,teaching material etc., local service providers such as barber, tailor cobbler, manpower for housekeeping & security services etc.
Around 49,000 students are admitted to NV every year from Class 6. The admission to the school is done through Entrance test which is a selection test. The number of NVs in India is 661 sanctioned NVs across the country [including 2nd NVs in 20 districts having large concentration of SC/ST population and 3 special NVs]. Out of these, 653 NVs are functional.
In pursuance of the National Education Policy 2020, almost all Navodaya Vidyalayas have been designated as PM Shri schools, showcasing the implementation of NEP 2020 and acting as exemplar Schools for others. NV is attracting girls students at large number as 42 percent,with the share of SC ST and OBC candidates are also increasing
The result of the students in CBSE exam has been consistently best as shared by the concerned authority. The result of this students are excelling in the competitive exam such as engineering, medical science, armed forces, civil services etc. at par with the best of the talent from urban India.
