JNU ranks No.2 University in India in NIRF Ranking 2022. JNU also received the Best University Award from the President of India in 2017.

JNU was the first to offer courses in foreign languages in an integrated five-year MA programme. The University encourages all M.A. students to do a few courses outside their subject.

Eligibility Criteria

M.A. in Politics (with a specialization in International Studies)

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 50% marks

M.A. in Economics (with specialization in World Economy)

  • Bachelor’s degree (with 50% marks in aggregate) in the following subjects: Economics (Honours) with Mathematics as a subsidiary subject; or Mathematics (Honours) with Economics as a subsidiary subject; or Statistics (Honours) with Economics and Mathematics as a subsidiary subject.
  • Any other Bachelor’s degree (with 60% marks in aggregate) with courses in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Mathematical Economics and Statistics

M.A. in International Relations and Area Studies

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 50% marks

ADOP-Mass Media in Urdu

  • A Bachelor’s Degree under a 10+2+3 pattern of education with a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate with Urdu as one of the subjects at High School or Intermediate or B.A. Level.
  • The candidates who have obtained their Bachelor’s degree under a pattern of education other than 10+2+3 will be considered for admission to Advanced Diploma in Mass Media in Urdu if they have successfully completed the first year of the Master’s degree programme or a bridge course in lieu thereof, wherever prescribed, from a recognised University with at least a minimum of 45% marks.

It is a one-year part-time intensive course which gives training in writing for radio, television, film, drama, journalism and other means of communication.

  • Bachelor’s (B.Sc. or B.Tech or equivalent) in Biological, Physical or Agricultural Sciences or Biotechnology under the 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 55% marks.

MA Economics

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 50% marks. Knowledge of Mathematics at the 10+2 level is expected and will be tested for in the Entrance Examination.

MA Modern History

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 50% marks

MA Medieval History –

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 50% marks

MA Ancient History

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 50% marks.

MA Political Science

  • Bachelor’s degree under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 50% marks in Social sciences and 55% marks for those who have Bachelor’s Degree in science and technology disciplines

MA Geography

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 45% marks.

MA Sociology

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 45% marks.

MA Philosophy

  • Bachelor’s degree under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 50% marks in Social Sciences and Humanities and 55% marks in Science & Technology disciplines

MA Development and Labour Studies

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 50% marks.

Master of Public Health

Bachelor’s level degree with a minimum duration of four years in clinical sciences viz. MBBS, AYUSH, BDS, BAMS, BUMS, BSMS, BHMS, BPT, BOT, B.Sc. (Nursing), BVSc or a professional degree in Allied Subjects/fields by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with a minimum of 55% marks from a recognized University/Institution (or equivalent grade B in UGC 7-point scale or equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed)

OR

Masters level degree in Social Sciences, Humanities, Management, Sciences, Technology and Allied Subjects/field with Minimum 50% marks from a recognized University/Institution (or equivalent grade B in UGC 7-point scale or equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed)

SCHOOL OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES

MSc. Environmental Sciences

  • Sc. degree or equivalent in any branch of basic or applied science under a 10+2+3 pattern of education or B.E./B.Tech/MBBS with at least 55% marks.

SCHOOL OF COMPUTER & SYSTEMS SCIENCES

Master of Computer Applications MCA

  • BCA/ Bachelor Degree in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent Degree with at least 55% marks

M.SC Physics

  • Bachelor’s degree (with Physics, Mathematics as main subjects) under the 10+2+3 pattern of education with 55% marks in the aggregate or in Physics Honours. Applicants with B.E./B.Tech. in any of the Engineering disciplines with a CGPA of at least 6.0 out of 10.0 (or equivalent percentage)

MSc.Chemistry

  • Bachelor’s degree (with Chemistry as one of the subjects) under the 10+2+3 pattern of education with 55% marks in the aggregate (or in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics combined),or in Chemistry Honours.
  • Applicants with B.Tech. degree (or equivalent) in Chemical/Polymer/Petroleum Engineering with a CGPA of at least 6.0 out of 10.0 (or equivalent percentage)

MSc. Mathematics

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics under the 10+2+3 system with at least 55% marks or equivalent, Or B.Tech. or B.E. in any of the Engineering disciplines with a CGPA of at least 6.0 out of 10.0 (or equivalent percentage)

SCHOOL OF ARTS AND AESTHETICS

Arts & Aesthetics

  • The School offers an integrated MA programme in Visual Studies, Cinema Studies, and Theatre and Performance Studies
  • Bachelor’s degree under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 50% marks.

M.Sc. in Biotechnology

  • Bachelor’s degree under 10+2+3 pattern of education in Physical, Biological (Biochemistry / Bioinformatics / Biotechnology/Botany/Microbiology/Zoology), Agricultural, Veterinary and Fishery Sciences, Pharmacy, Engineering/Technology, 4-year B.Sc.(Physician Assistant Course); MBBS/ B.D.S with at least 55% marks

SCHOOL OF SANSKRIT AND INDIC STUDIES

MA Sanskrit

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sanskrit or in any other subject under (10+2+3) pattern of education with at least 45% marks.

ATAL BIHARI VAJPAYEE SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP (ABVSME)

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent awarded by any of the universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of Education, GOI.

The Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.

Percentage

  • For General Category, OBC and EWS candidates, a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) or an equivalent CGPA in the qualifying degree is required.
  • For SC/ST/PWD candidates, a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) or an equivalent CGPA in the qualifying degree is required.
  • Candidates appearing for the final year of the bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination, and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results, can also apply

Admission Procedure

  • All applicants seeking admission to the MBA programme must have appeared in the Common Admission Test (CAT)
  • Each applicant applying for admission to the MBA programme must submit his/her CAT Registration Number and CAT Score.
  • JNU will use the CAT score for short-listing the applicants for GD and PI for the MBA programme. Based on the CAT score merit, the number of applicants shortlisted for GD and PI will be at least seven times the number of seats in each category.
  • The final list of selected candidates will be based on the CAT score and marks obtained in the Group Discussion and Personal Interview with respective weightage as 70%, 10% and 20% of the CAT score

SPECIAL CENTRE FOR MOLECULAR MEDICINE

MSC.Molecular Medicine

  • Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Basic or Applied Sciences (including MBBS/ BVSc./B.Pharm) from recognized Universities and Institutes with at least 55% marks.

SPECIAL CENTRE FOR NANOSCIENCES

M.Tech Nanoscience

  • Master’s degree in Science or B.E./B.Tech. in any branch of engineering and technology with 55% marks of a recognized University/ Institution or equivalent grade ‘B’ on a UGC 7-point scale or an equivalent grade in a point scale where grading system is followed

M.Tech Nanoelectronics

  • Master’s degree in Electronics or B.E./B.Tech. in Electronics & Communications/ Electrical Engineering with 55% marks of a recognized University/ Institution or equivalent grade ‘B’ on a UGC 7-point scale or an equivalent grade in a point scale where a grading system is followed.

SPECIAL CENTRE FOR DISASTER RESEARCH

MA Disaster Studies

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences/natural sciences/physical sciences/biological sciences/clinical sciences/law/commerce/ any other professional stream with 55% marks from a recognized University/Institution.
